Whips

Whips are flexible instruments, most commonly used to strike a submissive’s body. Many types of whips exist for flagellation enthusiasts, including single-tailed whips, and multi-tailed whips. A classic style of the single-tailed whip is similar to the bullwhip, producing a sharp cracking sound when popped midair. Single-tailed whips concentrate force and energy into one narrow area, and upon strike, will produce an intense, localized stinging sensation. Accuracy is of utmost importance when utilizing a single-tailed whip as to avoid deep lacerations, or even eye damage to the masochist using the instrument.

Multi-tailed whips are commonly divided into ‘cats’, and ‘floggers’. A cat features multiple braided tails and, at times, a longer handle when compared to its total length. A cat, or ‘cat-o-nine’ tails whip will produce a stinging sensation upon impact of each tail. Some find that the longer handle makes this type of whip easier to control. A flogger features long, flat tails of leather (or another material such as buttery soft deerskin), usually with a short handle. Floggers were created with the sole intention of striking another individual, and are a staple in kinky toy collections. Experienced players will take their time, using precise and slow-building flogging techniques on the submissive. Not only can floggers be used almost anywhere on the body, but they are excellent sensory tools when dragged lightly across the skin. One idea to keep in mind is that the lighter the leather, the harder the hit can be without causing damage or leaving marks on the sub.
