Electrostimulation

Electrostimulation, or ‘e-stim’, involves the incorporation of electricity during kinky sex. The most basic electrostimulation toys are vibrators and violet wands, both entry-level e-stim toys for kinky partners. However, all electrostimulation devices need to be approached with extreme caution to prevent temporary or permanent injury.

One common electrostimulation tool includes TENS units, or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. TENS units were originally designed to treat chronic and acute nerve conditions. With a TENS unit, electrode pads are connected and placed on the surface of the skin, using electrical currents and impulses to reduce pain. During extreme bondage scenes, these electrodes can be used below the belt to intensify sexual pleasure around the vagina or anus. It is imperative to use these types of devices below the waist only, as to avoid the heart and its surrounding nerves. Some units come with different attachments including dildos, pads, butt plugs, clamps, and more.

The violet wand is another e-stim device appropriate for entry-level players. It was introduced in the 1920s as a ‘violet ray’, as a ‘cure-all’ for things like “bad auras” and male baldness. Today, it is referred to as the Violet Wand, which has been designed solely for fetishists and kink enthusiasts. The modern-day version of the Violet Wand uses household current and manipulates it to produce an electrifying static discharge. This electrically charged sensation can be controlled lightly, or more intensely, depending on your partner’s tolerance, and can be used just about anywhere on the body except for the eyes.

For those looking to dabble with electrostimulation, either of these can be used at a minimal frequency to intensify orgasms and sensory play.
